Liberty or Death

There I perceive valkyries and ravens,

accompanying the wise victory-tree [Odin]

to the drink of the holy offering [Baldr's funeral feast]

Within have appeared these motifs.

The great Valkyrie is chooser of the slain and bearer of the mighty mead horn in Valhalla. She usually stands by Odin’s side both in honored battle and honoring those who died in battle.

This piece was very straight forward. Everything came together relatively quickly. This is one of those pieces where I really felt inspired. I wish it was always this way!

The original fantasy painting was done in oils and measures 18"x24".
