In the last verse we learned of Baldr's death and Hodr's fate, yet it was Loki who was behind the attack. The old laws dictate Hodr's death, but Loki was not without punishment. Bound beneath the earth, with a serpent dripping venom in his face, with only his loyal wife Sigyn at his side filling her bowl and filling her sadness.

Voluspa - Norse Mythology Book - Verse 35

“One did I see | in the wet woods bound,

A lover of ill, | and to Loki like;

By his side does Sigyn | sit, nor is glad

To see her mate: | would you know yet more?”
