“Freya’s Due,” is the largest Viking Art oil painting I have ever done. It measures 48" x 29". It was incredibly challenging, but I feel that I have learned so much in its creation for my Norse Mythology series Fateful Signs. I've wanted to do a Freyja painting for awhile. She is the goddess I get asked the most about.
I didn't want to do the traditional image of Freyja as the beautiful goddess of love. I wanted to do battle ready badass Freyja riding atop her battle swine, out to collect the dead that are half her's by right. I feel like I accomplished that, I hope you agree!
If you want to read more about my thought process behind this painting you can do so on the Viking Art page.
